A new Variety report quotes inside sources and reveals that finally, Samsung TVs will have Google Assistant functionality.
The report says that Samsung will invest more in sound quality, including tech that mimics Homepod functionality. However, the more interesting part is the integration of Google Assistant in 2019’s Samsung TVs lineup.
This doesn’t mean Bixby, Samsung’s own voice assistant, will be shelved, but it does point to more flexibility from the company, something which users will definitely benefit from.
So far, Samsung TVs had Bixby functionality for video playback but you can’t open third-party apps using voice commands. With Google Assistant into the picture, that will no longer be a limitation.
Samsung refused to comment on Variety’s report but, if this is true, we won’t have to wait long for a confirmation. As if we needed more reasons to pay close attention to CES 2019!
