A new report from Cheddar reveals that Snap Inc., Snapchat‘s owner, is planning to launch a gaming platform for developers as soon as next month.
Internally codenamed “Project Cognac”, this platform will host games made by outside developers to work “specifically in the Snapchat app”.
Rumors have long swirled around this supposed platform and things do point towards an imminent launch.
Cheddar says it saw an invitation with the tagline “Less talk. More Play”.
That invitation is asking people to join Snap’s first summit for content and developer partners that will happen on April 4 in Los Angeles.
Last year, Snap also bought a small game developer from Australia, Prettygreat, a studio that employed the creator of hit mobile games Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride.
With all these considered, it’s clear that Snapchat is getting a lot more than the existing handful of games in the app. However, Snap Inc. refused to comment on Cheddar’s story.
