Ikea and Sonos have been teasing a new Symfonisk speaker collaboration since a couple of months ago – they promised that the new speakers will integrate the high quality and multi-room functionality the Sonos speakers are known for, into everyday pieces of furniture.
Not a lot was known at the time about how exactly the two brands would go around the idea but now they have finally unveiled their products: a lamp and a bookshelf that double as speakers. No, I am not joking, just take a look at the photo below.
Doesn’t matter if you find it strange or not – you still have to admit they both look very nice, in a minimalistic sort of way. Besides, both of them were designed to seamlessly blend inside the home, all while providing the best possible sound experience.
The speaker shelf can hold around 6lbs (3kg) and can be placed however you want: horizontally, vertically or even attached to a rail in the kitchen.
Both the lamp and the shelf connect to Wi-Fi and can be controlled via the Sonos companion app. The app also allows the speakers to join any setup you already own or create a completely new one.
For now, neither company announced when the speakers will become available but it’s worth noting that a “Feel Home” event is taking place in Milan, Italy, this week and that’s where the duo will probably be released.
What we can tell you instead is that the table lamp will cost $179 while the bookshelf will retail for $99.
