Sony has showcased their latest e-paper technology with their FES Watch U, but that is not all they did with it – the company joined forces with New Balance and created a sneaker that changes designs as you walk.

The concept sneaker has been dubbed the 247 v2 and it integrated the e-paper into the outsoles and the side ‘N’ logo. The e-paper transitions between two black and white designs.

Unfortunately, the sneaker is not up for sale, mostly due to technicalities: they’re neither functional, comfortable or washable, which basically puts a plug on the concept from the start.
Nonetheless, it is a fun project to look at and who knows, maybe in the future we’ll actually have fashion that changes colors and patterns as we walk.
