This year, Sony will leave no stone unturned in the gaming industry. After releasing Remote Play, one way to play PS4 games on PC and possibly planning on an entire new console for 4K games , it decided to form a new company with a sole focus: mobile games.
ForwardWorks will focus on “full-fledged game titles” for customers from Japan and Asia with PS characters and IP. Atsushi Morita, head of SCE in Japan and Asia, will take the presidency role while the new company will be incorporated in Sony Interactive Entertainment from April 1st.
It’s not the first time Sony is trying to make a difference in the mobile gaming department. PlayStation Mobile initiative was a bust last year, so this time Sony will probably give up on their gaming nostalgia, focusing on something else than indie games.
