Spotify has announced a new application designed specifically for what it calls “the next generation of audio enthusiasts”. Dubbed Spotify Kids, it can only be used by Premium Family subscribers and it is aimed at children aged 3 and up.
The app will be launched today in beta in Ireland and will subsequently arrive in other countries around the world where the Premium Family subscription is available.
On Spotify Kids, in particular, there will be no advertisements and the contents will be selected by experts to be suitable for children. In addition to that, via parental control, the adult users can select either the “Audio for Young Kids” or “Audio for Older Kids” experience based on what they think better suits their children.
The service was created specifically to protect the children’s privacy and give the parents the peace of mind that they will not be exposed to unwanted or unhealthy content.
In addition to listening to their favorite music, Spotify Kids provides access to stories and playlists specially created for them and this content is even available offline.
Spotify Kids will be available exclusively for Spotify Premium Family subscribers at no additional cost and can be downloaded to any iOS or Android device once the application is launched on the market.
