Strong Roku Alternative? Google TV Adds More Than 800 Free TV Channels

Roku is still the king of free TV content but Google is really providing some stiff competition right now.

Google TV is adding over 800 free TV channels, including ad-supported live content from Tubi and Plex. In addition to their FAST channels (free ad-supported streaming television) from Pluto TV, it’s also getting Haystack news.

Even better, Google says they’re adding ““built-in channels from Google TV that you can watch without even downloading or launching an app.”

Considering nowadays to watch something, anything, involves having multiple streaming apps, the Google TV approach sounds much better – albeit essentially functioning like the cable TV of the olden days.

You can now find news from CBS, NBC or ABC on Google TV and some major series not available elsewhere.

If you want to give Google TV a shot, you’ll be tempted by a few blockbuster shows now available, including Westworld (which is no longer on HBO Max), the Walking Dead, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Top Gear.
