Expected to see Huawei’s first foldable phone on the front page of tech blogs?
After rumors swirled about a Huawei foldable phone, Huawei decided on a surprising move, announcing its Huawei P50 Pocket phone in fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar.
While it’s unusual to announce consumer tech in such outlets, once you take a look at the phone you’ll understand why.
Undeniably, the Huawei P50 Pocket is one attractive, fashionable and even “blingy” phone.
Even beyond the flip form factor, unusual for foldable phones today which bend down the middle, the Huawei P50 Pocket is a gorgeous, golden affair with a leafy pattern.
Shown off in Harper’s Bazaar China in a pictorial with Chinese actress and singer Guan Xiaotong, the Huawei P50 Pocket essentially brings back flip phones for the modern age.
A circular external display right next to the camera shows the time, notifications and a camera preview if you’re taking a picture with the phone flipped shut.
The edges of the phone hold the fingerprint reader.
Unfortunately, beyond these images we don’t know much about the Huawei P50 Pocket specs.
We do know that there will also be a silver variant with a different pattern on it and that Huawei plans to reveal the P50 Pocket fully on December 23rd.
