Samsung made a few announcements during their event in China, one of them being the ‘truly bezel-less’ Galaxy A8s, about which they haven’t revealed much at all at the moment. In addition to that, the company also launched the Galaxy A6.
The device hosts a Snapdragon 660 under the hood and comes with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB worth of internal storage. It has a 6 inch display and a 2160 x 1080 resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
It has a dual camera system on the rear with a 12MP + 5MP sensors and runs Android 8.1 Oreo.
The A6 is unique to Samsung because it’s the company’s first ‘non-Samsung’ smartphone. Though the phone is licensed by Samsung in China, it’s not actually manufactured by the South Korean company. The device is an ODM (Original Device Manufacturer), which means that, though it holds the Samsung name, it’s not made by them.
Apparently, it’s Chinese company Wintech, who also produces the Xiaomi smartphones, that is in charge of the Galaxy A6 manufacturing process.
Some worry that the Galaxy A6 will prove to be significantly different than the other Galaxy A series smartphones, especially when it comes to performance, while others don’t really give it much thought at all and expect the A6 to be the first out of a long line the Samsung brand will produce via Wintech for the Chinese market.
The mid-range smartphone will be available for the very affordable price of $260.
