Pixii made a luxury camera which they want to become an accessory used in tandem with one’s smartphone. The PIXII A1112 camera, as it was dubbed, uses the same rangefinder design that made the Leica famous and not only does it not feature an LCD screen, it also comes with no memory card slot.
Instead, the camera has a built-in memory of 8GB to 32GB and only displays and stores images on your mobile via WiFi or Bluetooth.
It has M-mount lenses, which makes it compatible with quite a wide range of manual-focuses lenses from Leica, Zeiss and Voigtlander.
For now, Pixii is still slowly releasing details about the camera but what we do know is that it has a CMOS sensor with a global electronic shutter, 12-bit sampling, high dynamic range and ISO from 100 to 6400. It benefits from an OLED control screen on top which allows you to select ISO, white balance and all the other settings.
The optical viewfinder, a 0.67X, has LED frame lines with 40/50mm and 28/35mm lends fields of view.
For now, there’s no information on pricing but Pixii is expected to release it, alongside more details and teasers, in the coming months.
