In the world of educational robotic toys and coding kits, it’s not just Sphero that’s grabbing headlines this week.
Sony just launched a much more affordable version of its Koov robot coding kit, a Koov Trial Kit priced at $250.
Of course, this still seems pricey, but the Koov is a set designed for classrooms and comes with a learning app and Class Management software.
The Trial kit contains 86 colorful blocks, motors, sensors, wheels and lights, alongside 6 lessons and 12 pre-coded recipes to build various types of robots.
The full Koov Kit is much more expansive, offering 322 components for $520, but, as teachers and parents know, that can be a large sum to raise in an average classroom.
The Koov Trial Kit, however, offers the same build-your-own robot educational experience, albeit at a smaller scale.
“With limited parts and dedicated lessons, the KOOV Trial Kit enables a baseline understanding of KOOV coding, robotics, and design while in consideration of the comprehensive Educator’s Kit solution that’s perfect for STEAM education in the classroom or at home,” says Sony.
Both kits can be ordered directly from the company’s online store.
