While robot mixologists can’t keep you company and socialize, one other thing they can’t also do is come over to you if you call them or signal them for another drink.

But now Italian design firm Carlo Ratti Associati has created the Makr Shakr – a single-armed robot that, while it can’t make conversation, it can mix and prepare drinks for you, on command, wherever you are.

The Makr Shakr was created in partnership with MIT, Coca-Cola and Bacardi Rum and is capable of pouring over 60 ingredients. All the available combinations should satisfy pretty much any taste out there.

But the Makr Shakr won’t be coming alone: it will actually be attached to an autonomous vehicle that has been dubbed Guido. The orders will be first placed via an app.

Of course, Guido will verify the ages of the users via an ID scan and the payments will be issued via smartphone. Once a selection is made and the age is verified, the robot goes to work and, according to the company, its drinks are on par with the ones the best bartenders out there have created.

The robot is already doing the rounds and registering quite the success: it currently works on Royal Caribbean cruise ships and in bars and hotels on three continents.
