Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey stated back in January that Twitter was working on a new Dark Mode option, after receiving several complaints from the users about how the current Dark Mode color was actually a darker shade of blue, instead of black.
The company Tweeted the announcement yesterday and said that it has dubbed this new dark mode -this time with a true black background- ‘lights out’.
The feature is still being rolled out but, once it will become available, you will be able to access it the same way as ‘dark mode’, the dark blue variant. All you’ll have to do is access Settings and Privacy on your Twitter account, click on Display and Sound and activate the ‘Lights Out’ feature.
Dark modes are becoming increasingly more popular with smartphone users, especially those of us who use phones with large screens – the dark modes not only ease eye strain but also help preserve battery life.
A good number of popular apps support dark themes such as YouTube, Google, Reddit, Kindle and Google Maps, just to name a few.
