Vivo Teases Apex, the Future of Smartphone

The impressive Vivo Apex prototype that stole the show at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 will actually enter production, teased Vivo recently.

The company started sending out invitations to the press for an event on June 12th in Shanghai, promising to reveal the “future of smartphone.”

In the image, the company teases what could be the first true all-display phone, notably without a notch as the Vivo Apex prototype hides its selfie camera in a clever pop-up compartment at the top. Vivo is also the official smartphone maker for the 2018 Fifa World Cup, so you can catch a glimpse at the impressive flagship in their World Cup promo video above.

At MWC 2018, the Vivo Apex prototype came with a 6-inch, 98 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also housed the world’s first half-screen in-display fingerprint scanner, alongside Vivo’s Screen SoundCasting Technology that transforms the screen into a speaker using vibrations.

While everyone is hoping the impressive tech demo will make its way to the market, it remains to be seen what Vivo’s plans are for the Vivo Apex. Hopefully our questions will be answered on June 12th.
