IBC 2017 (International Broadcasting Convention) has just begun. As you know, the event is an opportunity to showcase the latest in broadcasting, display breakthroughs as well as digital content, without forgetting to speak about emerging technologies. Virtual reality, 360 video and audio, are definitely going to be a hot topic, with DTS, the leader in high-definition audio solutions, set to showcase a solution for immersive sound and video that can be streamed to mobile devices #audiomagic

DTS, Tiledmedia and Viaccess-Orca will be present at IBC 2017 during Sept. 15-19. Together, they have come up with an audio-video solution for VR/AR that can greatly help stream premium VR360 content to mobile devices, anywhere. The companies claim that their option is not only bandwidth-efficient, but also scalable and fully compatible with HTTP distribution. Also, there’s no need for special servers or edge processing.

How does it work? The VO Player from Viaccess-Orca uses a ClearVR video SDK from Tiledmedia and audio from DTS for VR SDK to offer high quality experiences in virtual reality. All the while, their solution mantains a backward compatible core that works with millions of deployed VR devices.

Content providers and broadcasters can expect an ultra-directional, 3D audio rendering in VR for any type of device that allows streaming. But everyone crossing the threshold of the RAI Amsterdam Center will get a chance to see what we’re talking about, thanks to demos playing in Hall 1, Stand 1.A51.
