Walmart has announced that it has launched a VR merchandising company, called Spatial&, which will allow the customers to interact with merchandise through VR experiences.
For starters, Walmart will be working with DreamWorks and will be introducing, at select locations throughout the U.S, VR experiences in the parking lot which will allow the customers to visit “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”.
After their virtual visit, the customers will be directed to a physical gift shop where they can purchase items related to DreamWorks’ upcoming animated movie such as plush toys, action figures, DVDs and more.
The entire experience is brought to life thanks to hardware and software from HP, Intel and Positron.
According to Walmart’s announcement “Spatial& and DreamWorks Animation leveraged servers and workstations powered by Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors to stitch together high-resolution images and 360-degree VR videos to create this stunning experience.
During the activation, HP Windows Mixed Reality Headsets and OMEN by HP Mindframe Headsets, alongside PCs powered by Intel® Core™ processors, make it possible for consumers to fully step into and enjoy the Hidden World.“
But it’s not only the children who will get to have fun – HP Chromebooks will be available for the parents outside the VR experience which will allow them to see the content their children are seeing.
The VR experience will take place at 16 stores in the U.S as of this weekend and will last until early April.
