WhatsApp received a new update which enables it to support biometric authentication on iOS. iPhone users can now either use Face ID or Touch ID to lock or unlock it, depending on the iPhone model they have.

The feature became available with WhatsApp version 2.19.20 and can be enabled by navigating into Settings > Account and then Privacy, where you will find the Screen Lock option.

Users will still see the WhatsApp notifications even with the feature turned on and will be able to access quick reply but access to the full app won’t be granted unless the Face or Touch ID is successful.

For now, the feature is only available on the iOS version but, a recent test done by WABetaInfo hints that an Android release is just around the corner as well.
