Whatsapp announced two new features and, finally, among them, is the ability to block Whatsapp spam callers.
You’ll find that feature soon in the app, as well as a new Privacy Checkup tool to help you enable best security practices.
“Silence Unknown Callers is designed to give you more privacy and control of your incoming calls. It helps to automatically screen out spam, scams, and calls from unknown people for increased protection. These calls will not ring on your phone, but will be visible in your Call list, in case it turns out to be someone important,” says the company in a blog post.
You can find the mute spam callers option in the Privacy section on the app.
However, there are more ways to achieve this. Wondering how to block Whatsapp calls but not messages?
If you’re dealing with spam callers or maybe pesky vendors trying to convince you to sign a deal, then you probably wanted to block WhatsApp calls but not messages. Since spam callers don’t text (annoying “hackers” do phishing texts instead) and you want to keep any salesperson communication in text in order to have a paper trail / useful reminder, let’s see how you can block WhatsApp calls selectively (and a few other Whatsapp tips you should know).
If you just want to mute a WhatsApp call without ignoring the person, so you can see the call later in call history, that’s also super easy.
To ignore WhatsApp calls from a specific person, mute them. Swipe left on their chat, select “More” and then “Mute” – they’ll never know they don’t make your phone ring. You can also tap and hold the tap on a chat to bring up a mute option. On Whatsapp, you can mute for 8 hours, 1 week or always, so you decide what kind of break you want to have.
How to unmute someone on Whatsapp
If your muted person *cough* mom stopped spamming you with calls to let you know about nothing in particular, there’s an easy way to unmute someone on WhatsApp.
Just do the same thing as before, then hit unmute.
How to get Whatsapp Call history back
If you don’t block someone, even if you ignore them you still see their calls in Whatsapp call history. To keep things stress-free, regularly deleting your Whatsapp call history is a good idea – but what if you accidentally deleted your WhatsApp call history?
I did just that just as I was waiting for a postponed delivery and had no way of contacting the driver again. Fortunately, I found these solutions.
Recover your WhatsApp call history on iPhone
To recover your WhatsApp call history on an iPhone, you have to either use your iPhone backup or the icloud backup.
If you’re doing WhatsApp backups to iCloud, you can use that to restore your WhatsApp call history or messages in case of an accident.
All you have to do is uninstall, then reinstall the WhatsApp app. During the setup process, you’ll have an option to Restore from iCloud your WhatsApp data. The whole thing shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes, even though it’s a tedious process.
Still, it’s not as tedious as recovering WhatsApp data and calls from an iPhone backup. This method works if you want to recover all WhatsApp data, basically from the beginning of time, not just recent calls. To do a full WhatsApp recovery, you’d have to factory reset your iPhone. Then, when setting up your phone again, you can restore everything on it from iCloud or iTunes – WhatsApp stuff included.
Recover your WhatsApp on Android
