WhatsApp To Add Multi-Device Support & View Once Feature

Two years ago there was this rumor according to which there’s a WhatsApp iPad app in the works, and just recently the company has indicated that the rumors may actually take shape soon.

The news arrived in an interview between WABetaInfo and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart, and included the official announcement for the“view once” and “disappearing mode” features as well.

“We already rolled out the ability to turn on disappearing messages in any chat thread. We’re about to start rolling out “disappearing mode” which turns on disappearing messages in all of your threads so your WhatsApp experience basically becomes ephemeral.

We’re also about to start rolling out “view once”, SO you can send content and have it disappear after the person sees it,” Zuckerberg stated.

While the company didn’t exactly say the features are expected to arrive in the near future, Cathcart confirmed that multi-device support will become available on public beta “in the next month or two.”

Cathcart was hesitant in confirming the iPad app being in development but told that multi-device support will make WhatsApp on iPad likely.

Aside from the multi-device support, WhatsApp is seemingly working on a new password-protected encrypted chat backups feature to facilitate user’s chat histories transfer between iOS and Android.
