Though the Redmi Y1 debuted only six months ago, Xiaomi is already back in business with a new model. The Redmi Y2 offers a few upgrades such as an 18:9 panel, Snapdragon 625 and dual rear cameras.

The phone has a 6.0-inch screen and it features smaller bezels at the top and bottom of the display. The 720p panel (1440×720) offers vibrant colors and comes with dual SIM card slots and a MicroSD card slot as well.

It is powered by a 3,080mAh battery and it has both a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as face recognition support. The phone has dual 12MP + 5MP sensors and the primary camera lets in more light, now that it has been upgraded to a larger 1.25 pixel size.

Xiaomi favors the Snapdragon 625 heavily and it is using it for the Y2 as well. Can’t blame them, the chipset has a good balance of performance and efficiency. The Snapdragon is coupled with Adreno 509 GPU.

The phone is priced at Rs. 9,999 ($133) for the 3GB RAM  variant and Rs. 12,999 ($192) for the 4GB RAM one. The Redmi Y2 will be available exclusively via Amazon India, mi.com and in Mi Home stores from June 12.
