Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Arrives With Four Cameras and No Notch

Xiaomi launched its official flagship phone and finally delivered answers to all the questions we had about it.

For one – there’s no camera notch to be found on this ceramic-wrapped device. Xiaomi says that the phone has a 93.4% screen-to-body-ratio for the 6.39-inch AMOLED screen. This was achieved by hiding the front-facing cameras with a sliding mechanism.

The sliding mechanism is not motor-powered and CEO Lei Jun only stated that it will be ‘relaxing’ to play with. Whatever that implies, we’ll find out very soon.

After you pop that slider out, you’ll be greeted by a 24MP + 2MP front camera setup. The main cameras are a 12MP + 12MP combination, with the primary being an f/1.8 one with 1.4 micron pixels while the telephoto camera comes with an f/2.4 aperture and 1.0 micron pixels.

As far as other things go, the phone comes with the familiar Snapdragon 845 under the hood, with 10GB of RAM and it will support fast 10W wireless charging. There’s also word that a 5G version will be up for an European release in 2019.

At the moment, we don’t have any information concerning the battery but we will update the story as we know more.

The Mi Mix 3 will come in Onyx Black, Jade Green and Sapphire Blue colors with pricing starting at 3,299 yuan (that is around $475, after conversion) for the 6GB+128GB model, 3,599 yuan ( around $518) for the 8GB/128GB variant, and 3,999 yuan ($576) for the 8GB/256GB model. All of them will also come with a 10W wireless charging pad.

There is also a Forbidden City Palace Museum Special Edition model you can get your hands on, which you can see in the photo above. It has 10GB of RAM with 256GB of storage for 4,999 yuan (around $720) and it will, apparently, offer 10GB of monthly data for three years.
