At the end of the month, Xiaomi will release its mid-range phablet, Mi Max 2, on both online and offline channels, to our surprise and delight. A couple of days before that, Mi Max 2 will be up for purchase in India #mobilemagic
The sequel to Mi Max keeps the big screen and chunky bezels, showcasing a 6.44-inch display. This time though, the handset will be covered in a completely aluminum unibody. It will also feature the improved processor from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 625, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage (in China, there’s a 128GB variant, too). The camera module has been upgraded too; you can now expect the latest 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor for the rear camera while the front shooter stays at 5MP.
While the phone ignored the dual camera trend, it did follow in the competition’s steps and ditched the headphone jack. In its place, Xiaomi included stereo speakers. To run the handset at its full capacity, Xiaomi added a huge 5300mAh battery and included Quick Charge 3.0 support. Hey, you know what they say: go big or go home! Xiaomi definitely didn’t spare any efforts in making this phone a veritable phablet.
So, when can you purchase Mi Max 2? Well, the company will launch it on July 20 and 21 during an Anniversary sale and on July 27, the handset will be up for grabs from both offline and online partners. One unit is going to cost INR 16,999 (around $265).
