Sony has taken years to finally allow users to change their PSN Online ID’s but as of April 10th (11th for Europe), all PlayStation 4 users can, at long last, change their ID’s either on their console directly or through their browser.
While the first change is free, the following will cost you $10 (£8 or €10), if you don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription and $5 (£4 or €5) if you do have one, so think well and hard on your next handle. You can go back to your old ID for free though.
Of course, it’s not all perfect: PS3 and PS Vita do not support the feature and the only games that do support the ID change are the ones released for the first time after April 1st, 2018. Technically, most of the games should work fine with the new ID, but Sony doesn’t guarantee there won’t be some issues here and there.
While it’s not ideal, if you’ve been stuck with a silly ID for years, at least it’s something.
