YouTube has a good track record of rolling out regular updates to its platform, improving usability each time. The latest feature the video streaming service is polishing is the ability to search for videos using hashtags.
In a blog post shared on Google’s support page, Jensen from TeamYouTube announced the arrival of hashtags landing pages. Before this update, you could click on or search by hashtags and you would get a combination of content using the hashtag in the video as well as other related content. Now, when you click on a specific hashtag on YouTube, you will see a new dedicated page that only contains videos with the hashtag. The videos are sorted, keeping the “best videos” at the top. It’s not clear what ranking Google is using to show the “best videos”, as they aren’t sorted using view count.
Hashtag landing pages are available on both the mobile and desktop YouTube app. In the same post, Jensen says more updates for the feature will roll out in the near future, most likely introducing filters and categories, making it easier to find content.
