While followers of Chinese multinational telecommunications company ZTE were expecting an announcement on the upcoming Axon 9 smartphone, customers were instead surprised when ZTE took it up a notch with their latest phone reveal. Maybe two notches because the new ZTE Iceberg smartphone will have not one, but two front notches.
Several phones since Apple’s iPhone X have come with a single notch, but the ZTE Iceberg will be the world’s first to feature two. The top notch will work similarly to the iPhone X’s notch, making room for the front camera and sensors for distance and brightness. The lower one will house a secondary loudspeaker.
Other notable features include a finger print scanner and a dual camera configuration, both on the back of the phone. The ZTE Iceberg will come with a cool as ice single glass chassis, or unibody, sporting nothing but transparent glass corners. In their reveal, ZTE stated that “The ZTE Iceberg uses a seamless glass connection technique to combine two pieces of glass as one unibody, which makes the phone resemble a fragment of ice. The four corners of the phone are transparent to reveal the essential beauty of the glass material. The effect is beautiful and mysterious.”
ZTE has stated that the Iceberg will come is slated to release in 2019 as the phone requires 13-24 months of development. Additionally, no other specs have yet to be released.
