As ARKit is making developers’ summer more exciting, one Los Angeles startup is giving users one more reason to await eagerly the arrival of augmented reality content for iPhone. Mira has developed a special and very affordable AR headset just for iPhones #realitymagic
The startup has developed Prism, an AR headset that allows users to watch both the screen and the real world surrounding them in the same time. As many VR headsets before it, it works with an iPhone, be it 6, 6S or 7. All of the content transmitted by the phone is reflected onto the glass, right before your eyes. The glass is adjustable making the whole process easier while the headset itself can be tightened or loosened to fit every user perfectly.
Prism uses the iPhone’s camera, accelerometer and gyroscope to track objects and understand its environment better so it can interlace digital elements with analog ones. Two users with Prism headsets can always jump into an AR experience together and they won’t get bored, since the headsets come with controllers.
How about content for Prism? Mira says that they will focus on 360-degree content upon launch but the goal is to develop room-scale content.
The Prism headset and controller is available for pre-orders at the budget-friendly price of $100.
