Nike Fans Can Now Design Sneakers In An Actual Store

Online shopping doesn’t compare with the actual thing – you can’t try the items on, you can’t feel the textures or see the colors in the right light. The same goes for customizing your sneakers. Take a Nike model and color it your way online and you might end up with over-the-top sneakers. But what if you had the chance to do it offline? Parisians can try exactly that over the next months in the city’s flagship Nike store #realitymagic

Smart Pixels helped NikeID bring the customizable experience in a physical store on Champs Elysee. Two augmented video mapping devices were installed indoors.

On the top floor an augmented Lunar Epic Model can be found; this one changes colors and tells clients about the NIKEiD corner from two floors below. Another device on the -1 level links an interactive configurator with several Nike models (AirMax, LunarEpic Low, Cortez).

Here, customers can take a white sneaker – the blank canvas -, put it on the device and through augmented reality, play with colors and shapes until satisfied by the final result.

The experience is meant to spark customers’ imagination and challenge themto think outside the box. After all, it’s one thing to design shoes online and a whole other thing to see your dream come true in real time.
