This June, the 98-inch top of the range Sony Master Series Z9G will become available for the price of $70,000. With 8K resolution, this version is still cheaper than Samsung’s Q900 currently on the market for $100,000.
This is hardly affordable though, especially considering there’s not much 8k content out there.
With 4K TVs having increased in popularity and being not so out of reach from a financial standpoint, Sony is launching in May the A9G OLED series that start at $3,500 for the 55-inch and go up to $7,000 for the 77-inches. This comes with IMAX-enhanced viewing mode and a Netflix Calibrated picture option, as well as AirPlay 2 and HomeKit integration.

If having the Picture Processor X1 Ultimate chip is not a priority for you, Sony offers the A8G line, with its 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme chip which starts at $2,500 for the 55-inch model and reaches $3,500 at 65-inches. It includes Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio, which turns the display itself into the speaker.
Coming out this month as part of Sony’s LED-lit 4K models, the X950G is starting at $1,400 for the 55-inch version and jumps to $5,000 for an 85-inch. This range uses the X1 Ultimate chip but the 85-inch version of X850G packing the lesser 4K HDR Processor X1 will cost $3,500.
Considering the how little 8K content we have at the moment, would you make such a huge investment?
