Huawei MatePad Pro Unveiled and Yes, It’s Competing with the iPad Pro

We’ve heard rumors about Huawei working on a response to the iPad Pro and now they’re confirmed.

Meet the Huawei MatePad Pro, a tablet with even slimmer bezels! The Mate Pro uses a front punch hole camera to offer bezels just 4.9 mm thin.

It’s also a lightweight tablet, weighing just 460 grams, though, at 7.2mm thickness, it’s a bit bulkier than Apple’s 5.9mm on the iPad Pro (which might be a good thing).

In terms of specs, Huawei managed to pack quite a lot into it.

The 10.8-inch  Huawei MatePad Pro is fitted with a 2,560 x 1,600 display with 540 nits and the DCI-P3 color gamut, so graphic designers have a great reason to add it to the Christmas wish list.

Huawei paired their Kirin 990 processor with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB or 256 GB storage and a 7,250 mAh battery with 40W fast charge.

Other notable specs include a 5-microphone array and quad Harman Kardon speakers.

The MatePro tablet runs EMUI 10 based on Android 10.

However, it’s unknown if it will feature Google Play Store for its international version.

Actually, it’s unclear if the tablet will be released outside of China, because the recent announcement, picked up by the Chinese version of Engadget, did not mention that potential international launch.

What we do know is that the 6GB / 128 GB MatePro is competitively priced at 3,299 yuan (around $470) and its 8 GB / 256 GB version with the stylus and the keyboard will go for 4,999 yuan, which translates to around $700.
