Google is launching Duo and Meet group video calls on smart displays powered by Google Assistant. The new capabilities are already available on the Nest Hub Max and other Assistant smart displays with cameras.
If you are living in the US and you are using Nest Hub Max, you can still benefit from the auto-framing features and move around while still remain centered in-camera to other callers.
You can still start a group call from a smart display using your voice or by tapping the screen. Also, if you have created groups in the Duo mobile app, you can still access them on the smart display, and it supports up to 32 people at a time. Eight participants at a time can be illustrated on the smart display. If you need to host group video calls with more than 32 people, you will need to use Google Meet, as you’ll be able to connect with up to 100 people on Google Meet.
Recently, Google has been trying to make Duo video calls even more helpful, through a series of updates that make chats more accomodating, for work or family mode.
For now, Meet group video calling is only available on Nest Hub Max, but Google confirmed that it’s rolling out beta support for G Suite accounts in need to host meetings on Nest Hub Max smart displays.
