Cuphead has been an absolute indie darling because of its visual design, musical direction, and challenging but addictive gameplay. The already announced DLC, The Delicious Last Course, is widely anticipated. However, fans of the games will have to wait a little longer to get the full Cuphead experience.
According to a tweet from publisher Studio MDHR’s account, The Delicious Last Course will be delayed until at least 2021.
The publishers care deeply about matching the quality of the DLC with the original game, yet the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to do so.
As they say, “rather than compromise on our vision in response to COVID, we’ve made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead community the way we feel it should.”
It certainly takes a lot of time to make any game and Cuphead is no exception.
It is well documented that Cuphead animations were all hand drawn, meaning even basic actions would be extremely time and labor-intensive. The music of Cuphead was also recorded live, a step not all game developers take.
Although it is unfortunate to hear the DLC will be delayed, it is clear that Studio MDHR will be doing their best to provide the quality experience many fans associate with the original game.
