Although the arrival of Pixel 6A seems imminent, we still know very little about the device, especially regarding its technical specifications.
However, we seem to have had confirmation of its existence recently, in what must be one of the most unusual ways we’ve seen so far.
It seems that Google has included the Pixel 6a in a coloring book that the company has sent to the members of the Pixel Superfan program. This program was launched in 2021, as a “VIP experience for Pixel lovers” that offers them access and limited edition merchandise.
The images from the coloring book were quickly published online and soon enough, many people picked up on the drawings that portray Google devices such as the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Google Nest Hub , Chromecast and Pixel Buds.
The Pixel 6a is also mentioned in the coloring book’s index and appears on pages 6 and 7, alongside the Nest Thermostat.
However, in spite of this mention, there’s no traces of it anywhere and it might be that the drawing that represented it was removed later on but the mention remained in the booklet either by mistake, as a typo, or perhaps, even as an intentional leak.
Therefore, the booklet simply confirms that Pixel 6A exists , but it does not give us any information regarding its design or its technical data sheet.
It might not come as a surprise to any of you however, to find out that it’s not the first time a Google device is confirmed in an unique way: the Google Pixel 5a for example, made an appearance in the metadata of a photo that was posted in a Google Blog.
But we do have to admit this coloring book stunt might be the one to take the cake, at least for the time being. We’re curious to see what other ways Google will find to accidentally or intentionally leak the next upcoming devices.
