One of the most-backed Kickstarter projects ever and a party game phenomenon, Exploding Kittens, will get its own TV show and mobile game courtesy of Netflix.
The streaming service announced it would take the thrilling concept and develop an exclusive game version as well as an animated TV series.
The brainiacs behind Exploding Kittens, card game creators Elan Lee and Matthew “The Oatmeal” Inman, will be the executive producers alongside Mike Judge. As for the actors giving their voices to the animated characters, expect to hear Lucy Liu and Tom Ellis from behind the screens.
If you haven’t played the card game yet, you should know it’s a 2-5 player game for “people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats”. It’s a chaotic, super fun game that’s best explained by its creators:
Sounds fun?
Then you should definitely look out for the upgraded game this May, as well as possible gameplay inspired by the show.
As for the TV series itself, Netflix says it will tackle a holy war where God and the Devil come to Earth in the form of chunky house cats. However, this one will stream on Netflix next year, at the earliest.
