Winning against four other bidders, The Boring Company wants to create The Chicago Express Loop to connect downtown Chicago to O’Hare International Airport with a hyperloop.
The project would bring residents the chance to ride a shuttle at speeds of more than 100 mph and from the city center to O’Hare in just 12 minutes, at just $20-$25 per ticket. Right now, the other options are $5 for a 40-minute train trip or around $40 for a 15-mile taxi ride.
The shuttles are called “electric skates” and will carry up to 16 passengers through underground tunnels.
