Amazon is spreading everywhere, announcing the Alexa for Hospitality program that will put Amazon Echos in major chain hotels like Marriott and Aloft.
In essence, Alexa will be a hi-tech butler that will allow guests to order room service, control the temperature from smart thermostats or call housekeeping.
“Customers tell us they love how easy it is to get information, enjoy entertainment and control connected devices by simply asking Alexa, and we want to offer those experiences everywhere customers want them,” said Daniel Rausch, an Amazon vice president.
And that’s not all! Amazon intends to update Alexa for Hospitality so that hotel guests can temporarily connect their own Amazon account in order to play their own Spotify or Pandora Tunes, listen to audiobooks on Audible and more. That means soon enough Alexa’s know-how won’t be limited to just your house but available everywhere you travel.

Of course, the hotels get plenty of opportunities for personalization as well.
“Hotels can also customize the deployment by selecting default music stations from iHeartRadio stations that match their brand, adding property contacts to order room service or booking a spa treatment, and connecting to custom skills that only their guests can access. For example, Marriott Hotels guests, at properties where Alexa for Hospitality is deployed, can take advantage of the brand’s partnership with TED by requesting Alexa play a TED Talk on mindfulness, creativity or leadership,” explains Amazon.
