Samsung’s always kept pretty busy: in addition to all of its smart TV and smartphone lineups, the company has also dipped its fingers into smart appliances and, more recently, into smart clothing.

The company has filed a patent that reveals that Samsung might be working on an entire line of smart running shoes.

The shoes seem to be made out of a blend of leather and synthetic material.

While the patent is a little tight-lipped about the technology itself, we can tell you that the shoes come with sensors that can be activated either by pulling the tab on the back of the shoe or by pressing the buttons hidden behind a cover, which would also be attached the back.

The shoes would work in combination with a companion app which we can guess would allow the users to track their fitness goals and track their activities in real time.

Even so, we already have a number of other tech that helps us count steps or calories and more, so we’re a little curious as to what innovative health and fitness trackers the sensors in these running shoes might bring to the table.

Could we expect Samsung to launch these shows during the CES? Could be, but don’t take our word for it – the presence of a patent does not mean that the technology will ever see the light of day but we do admit that we’re looking forward to see more smart clothing in the mix.
