Whirlpool has made its presence known at CES with a number of announcements, including the KitchenAid Smart Display, which was not the only smart kitchen appliance the company has introduced this year – Whirlpool is also showcasing a smart countertop oven.
The oven can identify the food you place inside it and choose the optimal temperature to cook it to perfection. Whirlpool has not yet stated just how many types of foods the oven is able to recognize but, according to the company, it can tell the difference between frozen or unfrozen food.
It also hosts a camera on the inside that, when paired up with the companion app, can let you see what’s going on inside, if you’re into wetting your appetite before dinner time. There’s also a smart food thermometer that goes with cooking status notifications.
And if you thought it wouldn’t come with voice activation, you were wrong, because it does – with Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa, to be more exact.
The oven is a limited edition of only 2000 units that will make your wallet $799 lighter and they’re all up for pre-order via the company’s official website.
