DJI announced its new remote controller for the Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Pro drones. The DJI Smart Controller has a built-in 5.5 inch 1080p touch screen that runs Android.
It can be used from -4F to 104F and has a 1,000cd/m2 screen which should really help a lot with viewing aerial footage and with controlling the drone under the threat of direct sunlight.
It comes with Bluetooth 4.2 support, Wi-Fi and DJI’s OcuSync 2.0 video transmission technology. The tech switches between different frequencies in order to ensure that contact will be permanently maintained with the drone for as far as 4.97 miles away.
While it all sounds pretty good, the only downside to the controller is that it only lasts around 2.5 hours on a full charge and that a full charge will take two hours on top of that as well. Considering it costs $650 per controller, you’ll have to think long and hard about the purchase.
The controller is already up for sale and it will become available with Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom bundles as well.
