There has been talk of self-driving taxi services and autonomous Uber, but none got out of testing period so far. Automotive technology parts supplier Delphi is the first one to do so, after getting permission to launch a pilot program in Singapore #automagic
Before you get too excited, we’ll let you know that the project comes with a series of conditions. There will only be 6 autonomous cars out in the open, with all of them available for use on a single, four-mile route, in a business park at the western edge of the city. Guess what: not everyone will be able to take one, just a select few from a section of the population.
Even so, the taxis will be deployed in the second year of the pilot program. As for when will authorities finally give the green light and amake them everyone’s convenience ride, Delphi’s guess is about six years from now.
