If you always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty, America’s most recognizable landmark, but you could never afford to go or live across the ocean, a new Augmented Reality app can help you do so.

The app allows you to explore the monument from different perspectives and at new depths, in ways other visitors never could before. In addition to that, collected stories and visual media walks take you through over 150 years of its history.

From her original French roots in 1865 all the way to the opening of the Statue of Liberty Museum in May 2019, you will get to experience it all.

A Time Machine feature will allow you to see how the statue looked when it was brand new and the changes it went through across the years.

But the most interesting feature is the fact that you can have a view from all the way up on the Statue of Liberty’s torch – a view no one has seen since 1916, when public access to the torch was shut down.

The Augmented Reality model cannot deliver a sense of scale in the true meaning of the word but, by pinching and zooming on the 3D model you can place yourself at its feet, if you choose so, and stand in awe.

The app wants to inspire you to take a real-life visit and if you want to try it out, you can download it for free from the App Store.
