It looks like our Amazon deliveries will become more interesting in the future: the company just revealed its six-wheeled delivery robot which, apparently, was developed in-house by Amazon itself.
Its name is Amazon Scout and, so far, we don’t know all that much about it, except that it’s powered by an electric battery and that it moves pretty much at the regular walking pace of a human.
For the time being, only six Scouts will be allowed on the streets. They will take part in a pilot program that will unfold in a neighborhood in Snohomish County, Washington. The robots will deliver packages during the day, from Monday to Friday.
Being that this is a still a test program, the Scouts will be accompanied by a human who will make sure they can safely avoid pets, pedestrians and other obstacles that might appear in their path.
