If there’s a single good thing the COVID-19 lockdown brought on, then it’s probably watch parties and streaming services allowing you to share content.
After Netflix watch parties became a thing and you could join friends in enjoying the latest series, now Amazon throws its hat into the ring.
And it’s just like Amazon to really up the ante.
The Amazon Video Watch Party feature that just launched doesn’t let you just watch with a couple of friends, it turns your account into what is basically a cinema.
Up to 100 friends can join a Prime Video Watch Party, with the host in charge of controls.
You can add any friends who have Prime to your party and watch anything from the catalog – without having to share the popcorn, as Amazon underlines.
Just like on the Watch Parties for Twitch, another Amazon service, you can communicate with friends using the chat box and feature.
The only downside?
Right now, Amazon Prime Watch Party is only available to Prime members or Prime Video subscribers in the US.
There’s no word about a worldwide expansion just yet.
