Recently, Apple and Google teamed up to deliver a contact tracking system, a Bluetooth-based platform that will be included with the iOS and Android operating systems.
In an attempt to fight the spread of the coronavirus, the app is designed to identify whether a person was near someone who tested positive for coronavirus.
However, not all devices will support the app, for example, Huawei devices won’t be able to receive it from Google Play services due to the trade ban imposed by the US.
According to Google, the contact-tracking system will arrive via Google Play’s service for Android versions 6.0 Marshmallow and the first phase of the framework will arrive next month. The second stage of the contract-tracking system consisting of the feature built into the OS will arrive in the next few months.
However, by now, we have no information on whether the system will be open source.
