According to TechCrunch, Apple posted a note on its developer blog, highlighting the restrictions that will be imposed on coronavirus-themed apps, games, and entertainment related to coronavirus, as part of their attempt to ensure the credibility of health & safety information.
“We’re evaluating apps critically to ensure data sources are reputable and that developers presenting these apps are from recognized entities such as government organizations, health-focused NGOs, companies deeply credentialed in health issues, and medical or educational institutions. Only developers from one of these recognized entities should submit an app related to COVID-19,” the post states.
The exception consists of coronavirus-focused apps from “government organizations, health-focused NGOs, companies deeply credentialed in health issues, and medical or educational institutions,” which are allowed on the AppStore.
When submitting a permissible COVID-19 related app on AppStore approval, developers will be able to choose the “time-sensitive event” option.
