No one expected the Apple Watch Ultra to be quite so dedicated to swimmers and athletes but it seems Apple is trying to dethrone Garmin when it comes to sports watches.
Unveiled yesterday at the September 2022 Apple event, the Apple Watch Ultra manages to both look sleek and rugged at the same time.
If you’re a swimmer or a diver, the Apple Watch Ultra looks like an amazing choice. It comes with EN 13319 certification, which is the standard used by depth gauges for professional divers, and will show everything a diver or a swimmer might need to know.
The Apple Watch Ultra will automatically detect if it’s underwater and will open a Depth app showing current depth, water temperature, amount of time spent underwater and elapsed time.
However, the Ultra is not dedicated to the swimmers alone. The packaging Apple Watch Ultra comes in is dedicated to lovers of the mountain, with a black and white mountain range printed on the box.
