iOS 13 Offers Fake Eye Contact in FaceTime

Apple’s third iOS 13 developer beta will bring a fresh FaceTime feature that is going to make fake eye contact possible during video calls.

Basically, the FaceTime Attention Correction setting will help you look invested and interested in the conversation by making it seem like you’re looking straight into the camera, even though you’re looking at the screen.

Apparently, app designer Mike Rundle had the opportunity to test the feature with podcaster Will Sigmon. The latter noted the feature only seems to be working on the iPhone XS, XS Max but could drop for the XR model, too. It seems like the 2017 iPhone X won’t support the new feature.

Maybe you’ve felt sometimes a bit discouraged when the person you were talking to during FaceTime looked down slightly, avoiding the camera. Therefore, Apple’s new trick, the Attention Correction feature, could be an unexpected solution.

We can only hope that the new feature will make a huge difference in terms of providing a sense of “presence” for FaceTime calls, a core value which Apple finds very important for its chat.

There are also other interesting new features you’ll want to test on the upcoming iOS 13, like some Wi-Fi and Bluetooth shortcuts.
