There’s been an influx of big name brands lately that have taken into the trend of joining the smartwatch craze and the latest brand is none other than Emporio Armani.
These are not the company’s first attempt at smartwatches though – the first batch appeared in 2016. Another line followed in 2017 and it came up a bit short in features but Armani seems to have learned from the previous mistakes with this new generation, dubbed the Emporio Armani Connected.
The new Emporio Armani Connected is offering heart rate sensors, NFC and GPS, among other things.
The design is similar to the previous model, with a stainless steel case and a 1.19-inch AMOLED display.
The watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 and, thanks to the NFC connectivity, you can make payments via Alipay in China or, alternatively, Google Pay. It runs on Wear OS by Google, so that obviously means that you will have Google Assistant at your fingertips as well. Or well, at your wrist.
The smartwatch doubles as a fitness tracker as well: it has added heart rate sensor support and all-day tracking too. The data can be synced with Tic Health in China or Google Fit. It is also water resistant, so it can be used for swimming or diving, for up to 3ATM.
The smartwatch does come from a fashion brand though, so there are a few body and strap combinations you can opt for as well.
The smartwatch is available for pre-order on the company’s website and, with a name like Emporio Armani, you might expect the price to be no less than a small fortune. Sure, let’s face it, it’s not the cheapest option out there but with a price that ranges from $295 to $345, it’s actually not that bad.
