Asus is entering the new year with a new router: the RT-AX88U, which supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard.
The router comes with 160MHz support and Wi-Fi speeds of up to 6000Mbps. What does that mean? It means that this router might just prove to be 2.3 faster than any current 802.11ac dual-band router out there.
The router also comes with OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology under the hood which, according to Asus, can deliver better network efficiency and capacity and an 80% better coverage than its predecessors.
The RT-AX88U has 8 Gigabit LAN ports to support wired devices alongside two other USB ports for the hard drivers, printers and other devices of the kind.
It comes with a 64-bit 1.8GHz quad-core processor, QoS that prioritizes gaming traffic and offers support for the Asus AiMesh.
What’s and AiMesh, you ask? It’s basically a feature allows the router to connect itself to other routers that are compatible in the vicinity and create a mesh Wi-Fi network. Pretty useful, isn’t it?
The router is already up for sale and if you want one, you can buy it for around $349.99.
