Remember Avatar? It may have been years since you’ve seen the first movie in IMAX form but we bet the visuals were too memorable to forget about it. That rings especially true since Avatar 2 has been in the making for a while now, with the trailer finally dropping in sync with a Marvel movie.
Avatar 2 has been delayed like no other movie before, with its original release date scheduled in 2014.
James Cameron had different reasons for postponing its release, including making sure the visual effects would leave the same powerful impression on its viewers.
We now know the movie should drop this December and some stills were revealed back in 2020. But no serious trailer has been shared with the general audience so far.
That could change this Spring. The official trailer for Avatar 2 might drop in sync with a Marvel release: Doctor Strange.
On May 6, Disney could pair these two blockbusters trying to create hype for both at the same time.
Why Disney? If you didn’t know, the titan bought 20th Century Fox for $71.3bn, and with its rights to Avatar as well as Planet of the Apes and other memorable film series.
While Doctor Strange has been on our radar since Spiderman: No Way Home, Avatar 2 will be an exercise of memory hence Disney’s eagerness to promote it as much and as soon as possible.
There’s no doubt that a trailer release months before the movie shows up in theater is a little unorthodox.
But this trailer could finally put on the same screen Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, as well as legends Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang.
Winslet is set to play a Metkayina member, a free-diving member of a reef-dwelling tribe. The Quaritch will be back too – it remains to be seen in what shape and form.
Sigourney Weaver’s Training for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 Rumors
The synopsis is still very much a mystery although it’s no secret that the underwater world of Pandora will be explored in depth this time around.
Let’s just hope Disney piggybacks on its Marvel success of late and reveals more of Avatar 2 when Doctor Strange 2 arrives.
