China recently opened a park completely powered by AI technology.
The park was built by the Haidian district in Beijing in collaboration with Baidu, as part of a long-term plan to build a smart city. The 34-hectares park underwent a 10-month renovation period for the pilot program.
Throughout the park you can find AR (augmented reality) Tai Chi lessons, autonomous shuttle buses, smart lamp posts that are capable of recording exercise data and pavilions that come equipped with Baidu’s DuerOS AI assistant.
China’s central government has stated in October that they plan to boost the development of the country’s artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Baidu itself wants the park to serve as model for other ways China can bring artificial intelligence closer to the every day life of its citizens.
